For generations the Malden River was an industrial waterway walled-off to public use. The Malden River Greenway Plan lays out a vision that will transform the river, creating a world-class park system running through the cities of Everett, Malden, and Medford.
The Malden River Greenway intends to provide safe, connected and accessible paths for local residents and visitors along the Malden River.
The vision proposes an urban greenscape with thriving biodiversity and promotes a healthy lifestyle through active design and open space programming.

The vision for Malden River Greenway includes designing river edges that are safe, convenient and accessible. The active green spaces should support multi-modal recreation as well as urban biodiversity.
Further, the vision proposes to promote a healthy lifestyle through connective, open-space programming and the enhancement of links to a larger regional greenway system.
Hard & soft river edge conditions promote healthy natural systems and support a multi-use trail.
