Living in Canada

I’ve lived from coast to coast, Vancouver to Halifax. So far I have to agree that Toronto is indeed the best city in Canada. Sorry, rest of Canada.

Cherry Blossoms, High Park

I guess it was 2 weeks ago now that we went to High Park to see the cherry blossoms. What I didn't know at the time was what an absolute mass of people the park would be.

There was this really funny letter to the editor in Grid magazine the next week, from someone who wrote: (I'm paraphrasing)​

I'm disappointed that Torontonians can't just contemplate cherry blossoms silently and with seriousness. This is an important Asian tradition and while in High Park last Sunday, I was disturbed by multitudes of people dancing to throbbing rave music while others smoked illegal drugs.

The letter was answered the next week with this:​

That 'throbbing rave music' was actually low key Asian-inspired beats meant to be relaxing and picked specifically for the occasion. There were only a few people dancing, and pot hardly counts as an illegal drug in Canada.

Which brings me to the irony of this whole situation:​

All ridiculous cherry blossom controversy aside, holy crap! It was so nice!​
